Sustainability

The most green power with the least impact

As a wind and solar energy service company, our main focus is to ensure optimal operation of wind turbines and solar plants – from commissioning to environmentally sound decommissioning at the end of their technical lifetime. And we strive to do it in the most sustainable way possible.

This means that we work to ensure that our customers’ wind turbines and solar plants produce as much green power as possible for as many years as possible, while reducing our resource consumption, minimizing CO2 emissions and creating a safe working day for our employees.

For us, sustainability is about maximizing green power with minimum environmental and climate impact and a healthy and safe working environment.

That’s why our main focus areas are sustainability:

– Occupational health and safety

– Resource efficiency and recycling

– Climate control

Part of the group’s ESG efforts

To ensure that we continuously improve how our activities affect the environment, climate and employees, we work purposefully with ESG. ESG stands for Environment, Social and Governance and is a way of structuring sustainability work so that companies can measure, assess, prioritize, improve and report their efforts to contribute to a more sustainable world.

As part of the Momentum Group, we are an integral part of the group’s overall ESG efforts, led by a dedicated ESG team. The effort aims to ensure that all activities across the group contribute to the development and production of green energy in the most sustainable way.

Employee safety is our top priority

As an important part of our health and safety efforts, we conduct systematic risk assessments of tasks to identify potential risks and minimize hazards. Regular toolbox meetings ensure that everyone is updated on the latest safety procedures.

All our installers and service managers are GWO-certified (Global Wind Organisation, an internationally recognized safety standard in the wind turbine industry). This certification ensures that our employees have the necessary safety skills to work safely in wind turbines and are continuously trained to handle dangerous situations in a safe manner.

We work actively with competence development, where we not only increase employees’ professional skills, but also focus on improving safety at work. We have a dedicated Health & Safety Manager who has safety as his primary focus area.

We have a zero-tolerance policy that aims to prevent workplace accidents and ensure that both our own employees and business partners work in safe working conditions. We promote a culture where we encourage all employees to report observations, incidents and safety-related experiences, and we always follow up on these to improve our work processes and ensure even higher standards.

Resource efficiency and recycling

We continuously work to reduce our environmental impact by addressing key environmental issues in our operations. This includes minimizing resource consumption in our service operations, ensuring proper waste management and increasing recycling and reuse of used materials and components.

We actively work to keep resources in circulation for as long as possible – both by extending the lifetime of wind turbines and ensuring efficient use of turbine components. We repair and refurbish used components, either internally or in collaboration with our partners, and reuse them in other mills to minimize the need for new materials, without compromising quality and reliability.

When wind turbines and solar plants can no longer be extended and reach their technical lifetime, we ensure environmentally responsible dismantling with a focus on reuse and recycling – with the goal that no resources from dismantled turbines are wasted. We strive for as many components as possible to be reused in other of our customers’ mills or resold. The remaining materials, including iron, copper, fiberglass, asbestos, oil and acid, are disposed of properly and, where possible, sent for recycling so they can be incorporated into new products.

Systematic improvements through ISO certifications

To improve the work environment and reduce our environmental impact, we are committed to achieving ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications by the end of Q1 2025.

These international standards provide us with a recognized framework for identifying risks and creating more environmentally friendly processes and an even safer working environment for both employees and partners.

ISO 14001 & 45001

ISO 14001: Environmental management in practice

ISO 14001 is an international standard for environmental management that helps companies systematically identify, manage and reduce their environmental impacts. It supports efforts to comply with environmental legislation, improve resource efficiency and reduce the company’s environmental footprint.

ISO 45001: A safe and healthy working environment

ISO 45001 is a global standard for occupational health and safety management that supports companies in creating a safe and healthy working environment. The certification focuses on preventing workplace accidents and promoting employee well-being and safety.

Reducing our climate footprint

At Momentum Energy Services A/S, our primary carbon footprint comes from the fuel consumption of our service vehicles. Therefore, we are actively working to reduce the CO2 emissions from these vehicles by:

– Optimize logistics to minimize driving distances and fuel consumption

– Continuously replace our service vehicles so that over time the fleet consists as much as possible of zero-emission vehicles

In addition, we compensate for our electricity consumption in offices and warehouses through the Momentum Group’s ESG efforts. This is done by annually canceling the Guarantees of Origin (GO) that we continuously earn from the Group’s own wind turbines and solar plants when they produce renewable energy. The GO system is part of the European framework that enables the tracking of green energy and confirms that the energy produced comes from renewable sources.
